What We Do
From our shop on Victoria Avenue to visits and emergency support, here's how Vinnies helps across Whanganui.
Through our shop we offer quality second-hand clothing, cookware, kitchenware and all manner of items useful to individuals and families in need, at some of the lowest prices in Whanganui.
In appropriate situations we also clothe our clients and supply household items at no charge. We are always looking for donations that can be recycled.
Each month we provide food to the Whanganui Foodbank, as well as occasional fresh produce at our shop when it is brought to us.
We are always happy to receive fresh fruit and vegetables, which can be given to those in need.
When invited, our volunteers make home or care-home visits to those who would like some occasional company.
When there is a particular crisis and we are called upon, we try to provide emergency assistance. If we are unable to help directly, we will put you in contact with more appropriate agencies.
To this end we work alongside churches, social agencies and other community organisations.
Your support at work
Occasionally we assist national appeals and, where appropriate, support overseas disaster responses.
